Cindy McCain attacks the View

with 6 comments

Multi-millionaire heiress Cindy McCain calls the women on The View “out of touch with America” and the View ladies comment back.  Since when did “out of touch with America” become the new insult?

  1. Before answering the question, let’s remember that Cindy McCain is an airhead who happened to inherit a ton of money. Okay, “out of touch with American” became an insult at about the same time that “well educated” was something of which to be ashamed. Whoopie Goldberg’s slavery quip when the McCains were on “The View” was one of the funnier moments in this otherwise gruesome campaign.

  2. Whoopie confused me with that comment. What part of the constitution was she referring to when she asked if she would become enslaved? Still can’t believe McCain went into that den of lionesses.

  3. Oh Kyle. If you spent less time in history looking forward to theology you might have remembered this.

Section 2 of Article I states that apart from free persons “all other persons,” meaning slaves, are each to be counted as three-fifths of a white person for the purpose of apportioning congressional representatives on the basis of population.

Section 9 of Article I states that the importation of “such Persons as any of the States now existing shall think proper to admit,” meaning slaves, would be permitted until 1808.

And Section 2 of Article IV directs that persons “held to Service or Labour in one State, under the Laws thereof, escaping into another,” meaning fugitive slaves, were to be returned to their owners.

  4. Diane… welcome! and thanks for the reminder.

In reality, all of the campaign speeches and ads are pretty much just “get an idea of who I am” time. This includes getting eviscerated on the View to dancing with Ellen… just bread and circuses.

For me anyway, the real swaying is done during the presidential debates. I plan on taking off work early and putting out chips and dip. I’d invite my friends but no one would want to come because of all the sighing and groaning and eye rolling. (I’ll save you a seat Kyle).

  5. See, and here I thought the Amendments to the Constitution still amended it (the discussion was about appointing judges who uphold the constitution…presumably including the Amendments):

    Amendment XIII
    Section 1.
Neither slavery nor involuntary servitude…shall exist within the U.S., or any place subject to their jurisdiction.

And Arnold, would it be overkill to fly down to Pasadena for each of the debates to sigh and groan and roll my eyes at them on your huge TV?
