Life as I know it… plus commentary

If this Mac had photoshop on it, I’d have used a stencil font with red color and stamped FAT on that picture.  Maybe added a huge stamping sound with an echo on it.

I took Anakin for a shot update.  Dogs who get boarded are required to have a specific shot.  That went over easily until the vet said “Let’s talk about your dog’s weight.  He’s gained 6 pounds since we saw him in January.”

I keep telling Anakin “they’re dog biscuits, not love” but he does what he wants.  He doesn’t look fat to me but he IS a little gooshy on his back.  You’re supposed to be able to feel his ribs when you rub his side, the vet said.

“I do feel his ribs”.  That’s because you’re digging.  “Oh.”

Apparently I’m overfeeding him.  The dog food package says a dog of his weight should be getting five cups a day.  The vet just about fell over.  And then he gave me the precise number of calories overweight Anakin is and how many calories a day he’d have to lose to lose the weight in 4 months.  And then I got lectured on how dogs are like wolves, not people.  So they’re designed to get a lot then go without for a while.  I have o admit it was a little hard to take, mostly because the vet’s waist looked like it could use some help as well.

But… he’s right.  And now I’m measuring his food.  Three and a half cups a day until he slims down some.  Remember Anakin, they’re treats…. not acceptance.
